The Elephant 14, better known as the Dirty Elephant, is where two of our most loved ideas collide. It combines the uncompromising weight and presence of the Elephant Series with the unmistakable character of our Dirty Fade Selvedge. The result is a 20oz beefy, super heavyweight Japanese selvedge denim that starts tough and only gets better with wear.
The Elephant Series has always been about pushing boundaries. Each numbered iteration, from early editions like Elephant 3 and Elephant X to more recent releases, explores new ways to evolve heavyweight denim.
Heavyweight, with a twist
At 20oz, the Elephant 14 sits firmly in heavyweight territory. But this is not a standard indigo-heavy fabric. The warp yarns are rope-dyed in indigo and spun from naturally dusty brown cotton. As the denim fades, the indigo wears away to reveal the earthy brown core beneath, instead of fading to clean white.
This layered construction is what gives the Dirty Elephant its signature look. Fades appear warmer, grittier, and more organic, with a depth that feels raw and lived-in rather than polished.
Texture you can feel
True to the Elephant name, the fabric is dense, rigid, and highly tactile at first. The tight weave and heavy yarns give it a strong presence right out of the box. With wear, it gradually softens and molds to the body while maintaining its structure. Creases set deep, contrast builds naturally, and the brown undertone adds richness you simply do not see in conventional indigo denim.
