Super Heavyweight 40oz - The World's Heaviest Denim Jean

Super Heavyweight 40oz - The World's Heaviest Denim Jean
Mar 21, 2025

Once we come up with an idea, it’s hard to forget it. The 40oz Super Heavyweight Selvedge Denim embodies this mindset. Our passion and obsession are our driving forces, and we won’t stop until our vision is realized.

From the very beginning, we’ve been obsessed with heavyweight denim. In our first season, we started with 18oz, then moved to 19oz, 20oz, 21oz, 24oz, and even 26oz (the heaviest at the time). We had to break our own record with 32oz, but when we learned others had potentially surpassed it, we knew we had to push the limits further. That's when we set our sights on creating the 40oz Super Heavyweight.

Naked & Famous Denim Owner, Brandon Svarc, likes to joke "Guaranteed uncomfortable or your money back."

Naked & Famous Denim's Super Heavyweight 40oz Indigo Selvedge is woven in Okayama on a specialty shuttle loom and is unimaginably hard to produce. The fabric is roughly 4x the weight of conventional denim. Sewing these jeans required 2 sewing operators throughout multiple days to build 1 pair.

Too heavy to sanforize, the denim is unsanforized. Other details include contrast stitching, a double thick 30oz cowhide leather patch hand stitched using elk sinew, long 100% copper rivets, custom long top button, extra heavy duty WALDES zipper and red selvedge ID.

Available Thursday March 27th at 11:00am EST through Tate + Yoko
